GENERALJOB DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of the job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, develope, organize, implement, and direct the day-to-day functions of the Maintenance Department, its programs, and activities.
- Participate in facility inspections
- Make frequent facility rounds to evaluate the ongoing function of the facility; correct any issues immediately and discuss findings with the Administrator
- Arrange or complete the preventative maintenance and fire protection and ongoing safety programs as required by regulation and facility policy.
- Assist in the orientation and ongoing training of staff in relation to safety processes.
- Plan, organize and evaluate safety drills; as well as follow up education
- Maintain the SDS for each department
- Coordinate the preventative maintenance and needed maintenance with other departments
- Lead the Safety Committee
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, orienting, training, disciplining, and terminating maintenance staff.
- All other duties & responsibilities as assigned
Possess a high school degree or equivalent
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- Must have, as a minimum, one year(s) experience in a supervisory capacity, in a maintenance/plant related position in long term or post-acute care
- Must be knowledgeable of boilers, compressors, generators, etc., as well as various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
- Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Must be knowledgeable in building codes and safety regulations.
